Mail-Right Show Episode 234: How To Market Yourself Effectively In Difficult Times

With the advent of Covid-19 and its impact on how buyers and the real estate market will function, real estate professionals must learn to adapt to the new normal. Hosts Jonathon and Robert discuss the impacts of the pandemic will most likely have on your real estate business. The team would be sharing how they would handle the travel restrictions if they were active agents today. They’ll also be sharing their insights on the last market slowdown during the Financial Crisis and how to best position yourself to succeed during these trying times.

Right now, there’s a lot of uncertainty and anxiety due to this global issue that we’re facing. There has been a drastic change in the way people live their lives, which includes their day to day buying habits. Social Distancing is the new norm, and you have to take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones. But, you still need to ensure to keep your business safe as well to keep the money coming in and the food on the table. If you’re a realtor who is used to meeting people face to face and doing home tours with your clients, these changes may be quite difficult if not outright terrifying for you.

Messaging

So how do you work on your brand and business during this trying time? Well, a considerable part will be about the message you put out to the world. During this time where there’s a lot of bad news and fear spreading, it’s good to be a beacon of factual information for your audience.

In the online real estate space, in particular, traffic is down between 15% to 18% based on my research, which is similar to research done by well-known SEO specialist Neil Patel on his blog. For me, it brought a bit of clarity in that, it’s not so bad, and I found that looking at the numbers and facts is an excellent way to find a bit of good in the bad. Real Estate numbers are relatively stable compared to other markets in the country right now. Make your message about discussing facts and data on your particular niche. It provides your audience with readily available information on how Covid-19 is affecting their home prices and, at the same time, sets you up as the voice of reason in your industry.

Tools to Deliver the Message

There are lots of ways you can deliver your message to your audience. If you have a list of emails available, you can send out an email blast regarding the effects of Covid-19 on your local real estate market. You can also create blog posts or newsletters, providing detailed market reports on the changes since the start of the virus. There are a variety of tools you can use for mass emails such as MailChimp or Mailer Right.

But one major question is, how do I close deals if I’m used to doing face to face transactions? Well, one of the best tools we’ve been working with for a long time is Zoom. This video conferencing app works on PC, Mac, iPad, Android, and iPhone. If it connects to the internet and has a camera, speaker, and microphone, then zoom will most likely work on it. Why is that great? Well, it means that you’re able to retain the value of a face to face discussion, which is an unbelievable valuable asset to have. Other applications that have similar video calling features include FaceTime, WhatsApp, Skype, and more. It’s not required for you to know all of these tools. Usually, having one works fine, but it’s best to be flexible, especially if your client has a preference.
