The New York Times reports that as much as 44% of US Americans believe they have experienced paranormal activity in their home. 10% have sold their home under the belief it is haunted.
The study in question only had 1000 respondents, and you can imagine the data might be skewed.
In any case, there have been 16 seasons of Ghost Hunters, and as far as I know they still haven’t caught a ghost on camera.

Kyle Macdonald traded from one paperclip up to a two-story farmhouse. Impressively, it only took him 14 trades in total. Interesting things he got include a music recording contract, an afternoon with Alice Cooper, and a role in a movie.
